Save the Dates: Upcoming Symposium and Lecture The Anscombe Bioethics Centre is pleased to announce the following upcoming events: Saturday, 19 October 2019: Half-Day Symposium “Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide: Philosophical and Empirical Perspectives” With papers by: Dr Jorge Martinez (Associate Professor, Institute of Philosophy, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile) Prof. David Paton (Professor of Industrial Economics, University of Nottingham) Time: 1pm-4.30 Venue: Blackfriars, Oxford ——————————————— Friday, 8 November 2019: The Anscombe Memorial Lecture “Twinning and Human Individuality” A lecture on identical twinning and the status of the human embryo, by Dr Maureen Condic Time: 4pm (lecture followed by a drinks reception) Venue: Blackfriars, Oxford Dr Maureen L. Condic is Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy and Adjunct Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah. She is also a member of the US National Science Board and is a corresponding member of the Pontifical Academy for Life. Her current research involves the control of human stem cell potency and differentiation. In 2018 she co-authored a book entitled Human Embryos, Human Beings: A Scientific and Philosophical Approach. ———————————————More details on both events to follow.
