Our churches are locked closed; liquor stores are wide-open.  An unintended, but inevitable consequence of the hierarchy’s action will be their financial bankruptcy.  In not all, but in too many cases, moral bankruptcy has preceded fiscal destitution. Some dioceses have already been on a fast track to bankruptcy due to cleric abuse litigation. Coronavirus will provide them cover.

Be strong in your faith, the Risen Son of God has established our Church upon a rock, and the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. (But that does not mean that Satan won’t give it, literally, one hell of a try!)
