The Catholic Medical Association (CMA) 2022 Leadership Training Meeting will focus on “Physicians as Teachers; Informing our Patients, Community and Colleagues, Forming the Next Generation”. We will first lay a foundation to help understand the context of where learners are coming from in 2022. Presentations will focus on the current culture of learning in academic institutions and how this impacts our approach to teaching medical students. A series of talks will then address how differences in sex, culture, race, or those with health literacy disparities or prior trauma may take in information differently and how to effectively and compassionately reach these patients. We will give an overview of the art of medicine and show how incorporating goodness, truth, and beauty into our professional lives can improve physician wellness and fulfillment and lead to improved patient satisfaction. Finally, we will take these learned tools and use them in small group interactive sessions within different CMA subcommittees to see how they can improve the way we approach ethics, the underserved, spiritual outreach, and the education of medical students and residents..
If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the CMA National Office by phone (484) 270-8002 or by email info@cathmed.org.
