Slovenian bishops regret the decision of the US regarding fertilization procedures with biomedical assistance

The Slovenian bishops regret the latest decision of the Constitutional Court, according to which single women and women in same-sex unions will be entitled to insemination procedures with biomedical assistance.
We understand this decision as a further step towards dismantling the ideal of the family as the basic building block of our society. The reality of life is that not all families are traditional (father, mother, child), but depriving a child in advance of growth and education with the support of father and mother is certainly not the right way for our society.
The new regulation is therefore just another symptom of a society that does not place the child in the center of attention and concern, but the wishes and presumed rights of adults.
At the same time, the bishops remind that artificial insemination itself is very problematic from an ethical point of view, since many embryos are created during these procedures, the vast majority of which do not survive or live to be born. Thus, human lives lost are reduced to the level of a means to an end.
