This coming February 14, 2025, the feastday of Saint Valentines, a big conference will be held in the central city of Cebu, Philippines. The conference carries the theme, “Please Be Careful With My Heart”. This is inline with the Heart Disease Prevention Month of February. Expected to attend are hundreds of delegates from the different lay organizations and church-mandated movements and associations. The main speaker of the whole day event will be Dr. Rene Josef C. Bullecer, the Vice President  of the Catholic Physicians Guild of the Philippines.

To be thoroughly discussed will be on the topics which will center on the anatomy and functions of the human heart, the different ailments affecting the heart including the signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatments and prevention.To add more impact and meaning of the conference, there will be some selected patients who will share their testimonies. These include a post-stroke patient who is undergoing full rehabilitation, a patient with a peacemaker, another patient with a stent and a patient who had a heart bypass. A physical therapist is also invited during the open forum.

This conference is conceptualized by the Catholic Physicians Guild of the Philippine Cebu, with the support from the FIAMC. Also from the National Council of the Laity of the Philippines which takes charge of the attendees and the assistance from the Human life International Pilipinas.  The main objective of this event is primarily to create an increased level of awareness on the importance of having a healthy heart. Based on the statistics, a little over 124,000 Filipinos died from “ischemic heart disease” and is the leading cause of death in the Philippines.
