La FIAMC, Federazione Internazionale delle Associazioni dei Medici Cattolici, prende atto con stupore delle dichiarazioni della signora Kirsten Sandberg, presidente del Comitato Onu per i diritti del fanciullo, che nella conferenza stampa del 5 febbraio 2014 ha accusato il Vaticano di aver protetto sacerdoti pedofili e di aver consentito loro di continuare nelle loro pratiche.
Spetterà al Vaticano esaminare il documento nel dettaglio. Si devono però criticare alcune affermazioni gravissime della signora Sandberg, secondo cui “prese di posizione e dichiarazioni sull’omosessualità hanno contribuito alla stigmatizzazione e alla violenza contro adolescenti lesbiche, gay, bisessuali e trans, e figli allevati da coppie dello stesso sesso”, e “Noi vogliamo menzionare le conseguenze negative della posizione della Santa Sede che nega agli adolescenti l’accesso ai contraccettivi così come alla salute sessuale e riproduttiva e all’informazione relativa”.
Considerato che per le agenzie ONU il concetto di salute sessuale e riproduttiva comprende anche il diritto all’aborto, appare paradossale che il Comitato ONU per i diritti del fanciullo non difenda i diritti dei bambini prima della nascita, anzi consideri un diritto la loro eliminazione.
Le dichiarazioni della Sandberg, che affrontano temi che con la pedofilia nulla hanno a che fare, come l’accusa di aver contribuito a fomentare violenze contro adolescenti a causa del loro orientamento sessuale, possono rivelare l’intenzione di utilizzare il dossier sulla pedofilia per mettere sotto accusa punti importanti della dottrina morale della Chiesa.

FIAMC , the International Federation of Catholic Medical Associations , notes with surprise the statements of Ms. Kirsten Sandberg , Chairman of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child , which the press conference on February 5, 2014 accused the Vatican of having protected pedophile priests and you have allowed them to continue in their practices.

It is for the Vatican to examine the document in detail. It must, however, be criticized some very serious allegations of Ms. Sandberg according to which ” position papers and statements on homosexuality have contributed to the stigmatization and violence against teenage lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender , and children raised by same-sex couples ,” and “We want to mention the negative consequences of the Holy See’s position that denies access to contraceptives to adolescents as well as to sexual and reproductive health and to information .”

Given that for the UN agencies , the concept of sexual and reproductive health includes the right to abortion , it seems paradoxical that the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child is not defending the rights of children before birth, rather consider a law eliminating them .

Sandberg ‘s statements , which address issues with pedophilia have nothing to do with it, such as the accusation that he had helped to foment violence against adolescents because of their sexual orientation, can reveal the intention to use the file to put on pedophilia impeach the important points of the moral teaching of the Church.

The UN’s Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) has denounced the Vatican for adopting policies that allowed priests to sexually abuse thousands of children and demanded that the Holy See “immediately remove” all clergy who are known or suspected child abusers.
Speaking to journalists in Geneva, Kirsten Sandberg, chairperson of the committee said “the main finding of the committee was that the Holy See has adopted policies and practices which have led to the continuation of the abuse by and the impunity of the perpetrators.”
She added “the Holy See has consistently placed the preservation of the reputation of the church and the protection of the perpetrators above children’s best interests.”
The committee also criticized the “practice of offenders’ mobility”, referring to the transfer of child abusers from parish to parish within countries, and sometimes abroad.
In that sense, Sandberg said “they were moved from parish to parish when things were discovered and this still places children in many countries in high risk of sexual abuse.”
The UN watchdog also heavily criticized the Vatican’s attitudes towards homosexuality, contraception and abortion.
The chairperson of the Committee said “Holy See past statements and declarations on homosexuality have contributed to the social stigmatization of and violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered adolescents and children raised by same sex couples.”
She also mentioned the negative consequences of the Holy Sees position practices of denying adolescence access to contraceptives as well as to sexual and reproductive health and information.
Finally, Sandberg said “their attitudes have changed over the last few years, so let us hope that this is a new beginning for a more open attitude and more cooperation in removing this condition of silence.”
The Vatican has set up a commission to fight child abuse in the Church.
At the end of its 65th session, the Committee on the Rights of the Child has also published its Concluding Observations on the reviewed Reports of Congo, Germany, Portugal, Russian Federation and Yemen.
