Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am sending this urgent message to you on behalf of our Brothers and Sisters from the St. Luke’s Guild Hong Kong especially Dr’s Peter Au Yeong and Ambrose Leung.
You might have read about the demonstration by the Hong Kong people against the “Extradition Bill” that is still on going. About 1.23 Million people demonstrated against this Bill recently which – if passed into law by the Hong Kong Parliament – will result in the expatriation of persons back to mainland China where it is feared they will not have a fair trial. With this Bill the authorities in China can call anyone whom they want including transit travellers at Hong Kong Airport and send they back to China to face trial. That is the Hong Kong people from all walks of life including doctors are afraid and want the” Extradition Bill” to be shelved completely.
Presently because of the massive demonstation recently in Hong Kong the chief executive of Hong Kong had only temporarily suspended the passing of the Bill which the Hong Kong people are not happy with because the Bill can still be discussed again. What the Hong Kong people want is an irrevocable withdrawal of the amendment to pass the “Extradition Bill”. Therefor our Colleagues in Hong Kong have requested people from all over the world to pray that their Government/Parliament will once and for all remove the Extradition Bill so that they can live in peace without the fear of being forcibly extradited back to mainland China to face unfair trail.
Therefor please spend a minute in silence and pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ and also all the other people in Hong Kong that God will grant them their wish so that they and their future generations will be able to live in peace.
In ending I would like to quote to you the Pope’s intention for the Challengers of Humanity and Mission of the Church July 2019:
Let us pray that those who administer justice may work with integrity, and that the injustice which prevails in the world may not have the last word.
Thank you and may Almighty God Bless us all!
In Jesus,
Dr. Freddie Loh,
Chairman FIAMC Membership Committee
