Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
On behalf of the committee, it is my pleasure to announce that the 15th AFCMA Congress will be held on 18 – 21 October 2012, in Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel in Bali, Indonesia. As you perhaps know, Indonesia was appointed as the host for the next AFCMA Congress. I do hope that all of you, Board and Members of AFCMA will make a note in your calendar for this important date, so that you can schedule your presence at the congress from now on. I would also urge Board and Members in other regions within FIAMC to come and attend the Congress.
The Organizing Committee has chosen Bali as the location of this congress, to attract more participants. Most of you would have heard of Bali as one of the favorite tourist destinations in the world. We assure you that aside from the interesting topics that will be discussed in the congress, there will also be opportunity for you to see the beauty of the Paradise Island of Bali.
Please go through the Congress Programme. There are still some vacancies for congress speakers that you may be able to fill. The topic can be related to the main theme, subtheme or as free papers. Please let me know if you are interested to be one of the speakers. With this announcement I would like to welcome you to the 15th AFCMA Congress in Bali, and encourage you to register early.
With my warmest regards,
In Christ,
Albert Hendarta, MD, MPH.
Chairman 15th AFCMA Congress Organizing Committee

PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE
Your Excellencies, dear colleagues and friends,
I am very honoured to be asked to send a message to the participants
of the 15th AFCMA Congress. Originally I have intended to attend the
Congress but regretfully I am unable to be there because the Holy
Father has appointed me as auditor for the Synod of the New
Evangelization for the transmission of the Faith. However you have our
Vice president, John Lee as living symbol of the union of the
Catholic Doctors worldwide.
As a sign of our solidarity with you, the ecclesiastical adviser of
FIAMC, Mgsr Marurizio Faggioni has obtained indulgences from the
Vatican (Apostolic Penitentiary)for participants of your Congress.
This demonstrates the importance which FIAMC values the regional group
of its affiliates in Asia.
I would like to congratulate the organisors of the Congress for
choosing a very appropriate topic “Challenges of Catholic Doctors in
the Changing World”. It is very important for our members to be
“Catholic Doctors” and not Catholics who are doctors who do not
practise their faith in their vocation. In our increasingly secular
world there is much pressure on our Catholic doctors to conform to the
values of a secular society. For examples in some places Catholic
doctors are being threatened by loss of practising rights and even
imprisonment for refusing to refer pregnant women for abortion. As a
family of Catholic physicians we must continue to support each other
to continue living our faith in our chosen vocation.
A Conference is an occasion of meeting, learning, praying and
establishing ecumenical relationships. It is the current way we
Catholic Doctors work in a common way. Please enjoy, learn and pray
for in the honour of our Lord and to the better good of mankind!
Yours for ever,
Jose Maria Simon
President
World Federation of Catholic Medical Associations (FIAMC)

APOSTOLIC PENITENTIARYProt. N. 496/12/1DECREE The Apostolic Penitentiary is pleased with the proposal of the moderators of solidarity of the Asian Federation of Associations of Catholic Doctors, who will be holding their 15thCongress from 18th to 21st of October, in Bali, Indonesia. A Plenary Indulgence will be granted to the solidarity members and to other members of the faithful who have truly satisfied the pre-condition required for it (Sacramental Confessions, Eucharistic communion and Prayer for the intention of the Supreme Pontiff), provided that the aforementioned meeting will compassionately share their hearts with the spirit of the Year of Faith. The profession of faith can be recited in any legitimate formula, adding a Marian Invocation like, “Virgin Mary, Helper of the Sick…”. The Solidarity members who are legitimately impeded, can and wish to receive the Indulgence. For this they have at least be contrite and fervent in their prayer. Presented for this special Occasion. Nothing is contrary to this Disposition. Given in Rome from the Offices of the Apostolic Penitentiary on 17th September 2012 of the Lords’ Incarnation.
