Dato Dr Anthonysamy
Departed: 29 May 2021
It is with profound sadness that we inform of the demise of Dato Dr Anthonysamy, a member of the Catholic Doctors Association of Malaysia (CDAM), who passed away on 29th May 2021.
Dato Dr Anthonysamy has been a pillar of strength and a beacon for CDAM and an exemplary medical professional through his selfless dedication and service to the community at large.
Running his clinic in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Dato Dr Anthonysamy had for the past 30 years actively helped people of every race and religion, generously providing free treatment or foregoing his consultation fee and just charging for the medication supplied.
His charitable nature was also evident in his passionate involvement with the CDAM where he actively participated in their many outreach programmes, some of which included serving at CDAM’s free clinic at Jotong Centre for the Myanmarese Chin Community and the Deworm Programme for children of the various migrant communities.
Dato Dr Anthonysamy had also been instrumental in the setting up of the Samaritan Hope Home in Jalan Pudu, which provides medical aid and food for the homeless. Together with a group of doctors from the CDAM, they provided free medical services fortnightly at the Home.
A strong supporter of the CDAM’s charitable initiatives, Dato Dr Anthonysamy was a keen golfer at CDAM’s charity golf competitions and always present at all their other events too.
On the International scene, Dato Dr Anthonysamy had until recently been attending the Asian Federation of Catholic Medical Association’s (AFCMA) Congresses which is held in different Asian Countries every four years whereby doctors from all over Asia get together to strengthen their fellowship besides exchanging scientific information and matters pertaining to defending the teachings of the Catholic Church. He was appointed Vice President of AFCMA at their Congress in Bali, Indonesia in 2012.
An ardent parishioner of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Setapak, Dato Dr Anthonysamy leaves behind his wife Patricia, three children and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
He will always be remembered as a humble and compassionate Catholic doctor and a role model for the younger members of the medical fraternity.
His Grace Most Reverend Julian Leow and the clergy of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur would like to extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late Dato Dr Anthonysamy and the CDAM in this time of loss, and are united with them in fraternal prayer and support.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
