July 8 changed our lives irrevocably.

On this day Ukraine experienced one of the most massive russian missile attacks on our country, in particular on the capital, Kyiv. As a result of the attack by the russians, 44 people died, 196 people were injured, including 10 children. In particular, 33 people died in Kyiv, 125 people were injured.

The saddest thing is that the terrorist attack by the russians was carried out on the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Ohmatdyt” and a private medical clinic. As a result of this terrible tragedy, children and medical workers were killed and seriously injured. In particular, 6 medical workers were killed, many children were seriously injured. Also, as a result of the russian terrorist attack, four buildings of the largest children’s hospital in our country were damaged and one was destroyed.

The entire medical community of Ukraine strongly condemns this terrible crime against humanity committed by russian terrorists, and calls on all people of good will to join in condemning this crime and make every possible effort to stop and punish the russian aggressor.

Today we cry with all the victims, we pray for all the dead, especially for innocently killed children and medical workers. We express our sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the dead and wounded, and also thank our doctors and rescuers for their dedication and heroism.

Special hope will be built by the extraordinary solidarity and mutual support of our citizens. After the shelling, without waiting for official help, the people of Kyiv got together and went to the scene of the tragedy.The quick reaction of the city’s residents and their willingness to help became a vivid example of the genuine concern of Ukrainians. People independently helped to dismantle the debris, helped the victims and provided the necessary support.

We call on the entire world medical community, in particular the World Federation of Catholic Medical Associations (FIAMC), to spread the truth about russian aggression in Ukraine, unite for the protection and mutual support of medical workers, and make every possible effort to achieve a true peace and punish russian terrorism.
