December 12, 2024
Dear Colleagues and Friends of the CMA,
Blessings to you this Advent season! As 2024 comes to close, I want to start with a message of gratitude for many things:
- The incredible leaders who work tirelessly to promulgate the mission and vision of the CMA, namely the board of directors, state directors, guild presidents, and all in leadership positions;
- Our Executive Director Mario Dickerson and the national office staff who work hard to support us every day;
- Bishop Conley and Father Kubat who support our spiritual needs and provide guidance and wisdom in our endeavors;
- All our members who support the CMA with their time, talent, and treasure;
- Everyone who supports the financial needs of our organization and;
- Most importantly the spiritual support and foundation we could not survive without – God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Mary, Joseph, and all the Holy angels and saints!
This year we continued to reflect on the vision of the CMA, Inspiring Physicians to Imitate Jesus Christ, by focusing our efforts to grow in our interior life. In addition to elucidating our internal mission and vision, we focused on individual and organization identities by holding Town Halls in our regions to listen to members and to communicate the ways in which the national CMA can support local members. We will continue to expand Town Halls in 2025 to further communication from the national level to local members.
As we continue in Advent, let us strive to “allow God’s truth, beauty, and goodness to become incarnate in our lives,” as author Heather Kym suggests in her book Encountering Emmanuel.
I pray that we all can reflect on how Christ wants to encounter us this Advent and be born in us in a new and even more fulfilling way so that we can all be truly alive in Christ!
In Christ,
Michelle K. Stanford, M.D.
