In a classic example of bureaucratic overreach, President Biden’s administration is re-interpreting existing law to squeeze “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” into the definition of “sex.” This is a dramatic shift. It would force doctors to participate in controversial, experimental and irreversible procedures including hormone replacement regimens and surgeries.
This end-run around the legislative process also forces medical professionals to rewrite patients’ medical records to reflect their chosen gender identity rather than their biological sex. The consequences of so brazenly ignoring biology can be life-threatening. In one case, a baby died during labor after the hospital wasn’t told that the patient, who identified as male, was actually a pregnant woman.
