(RV) Le Pape François a exprimé mercredi soir sa « plus ferme condamnation pour l’horrible attentat » qui a frappé dans la matinée la rédaction de Charlie Hebdo, faisant au moins 12 morts, « semant la mort, jetant dans la consternation toute la société française, bouleversant profondément tous les amants de la paix, bien au-delà des frontières de la France ».
Par la voie du directeur de la Salle de presse du Saint-Siège, le Souverain Pontife affirme « participer dans la prière à la souffrance des blessés et des familles des défunts et exhorter tout le monde à s’opposer par tous les moyens à la diffusion de la haine et de toute forme de violence, physique et morale, qui détruit la vie humaine, viole la dignité des personnes, mine radicalement le bien fondamental de la cohabitation pacifique entre les personnes et les peuples, malgré les différences de nationalité, de religion et de culture ».
« Quelle que soit la motivation, a poursuivi le Saint-Père, la violence assassine est abominable, jamais justifiable, la vie et la dignité de chacun doivent être garanties et protégées avec décision, toute instigation à la haine doit être refusée, le respect d’autrui cultivé ».
Le Pape a enfin exprimé « sa proximité, sa solidarité spirituelle et son soutien pour tous ceux qui, selon leurs responsabilités, continuent de s’engager pour la paix, la justice et le droit, pour guérir en profondeur les sources et les causes de la haine, en ce moment douloureux et dramatique, en France et dans chaque partie du monde marquée par des tensions et des violences ».

The Holy Father expresses the strongest condemnation for the horrific attack that afflicted the city of Paris this morning with a high number of victims, sowing death, throwing the entire French society into consternation, and deeply upsetting all peace loving people, well beyond the borders of France.
Pope Francis joins in prayers for the suffering of the wounded and the families of the deceased and calls upon all to oppose by all means the spread of hatred and all forms of violence, both physical and moral, which destroys human life, violates the dignity of the person, radically undermines the fundamental good of peaceful coexistence between individuals and peoples, despite differences of nationality, religion and culture.
